Functional Patterns is a personalized training program that looks at your individual biomechanics to address areas of dysfunction to get you stronger and reduce the risk of injury. There is a focus on corrective movements and core activation to integrate the whole body in every exercise.
I have been practicing massage therapy since 2004 and myofascial release therapy (Biosynchronistics®) since 2010. I continually strive to expand my skill set to help facilitate my clients' healing journeys most recently becoming a certified personal trainer in 2019 and a Functional Patterns Human Biomechanical Specialist Level 1 in 2020.
I competed as an elite level mountain biker racer for over 15 years, focusing on endurance racing for several of those years. Working through my own injuries and chronic patterns has fueled my passion to learn and be as effective of a therapist that I can be.
"I went to see Karen based on a recommendation from a friend when I was literally on the floor due to back pain. Karen responded to me right away, and was very flexible with fitting me into her schedule. After an hour I was able to move again and left with several tips regarding my posture (the root cause).
Following her advice, and continuing to work with her, I have gotten taller (seriously, I got back a half an inch), and have unraveled several other issues. One surprise after my first appointment was the knee pain I had lived with for years was gone. I didn’t even mention it, but Karen's work found it.
I was not familiar with Biosynchronistics® before this, but I would highly recommend it over traditional massage for getting or keeping your body healthy and functioning."
