What
to Expect on Your Body Sage Experience
You will be asked to fill out a medical history form, which will
provide us with information about any health care problems you may
have. We will discuss what you expect from the
massage, and you are encouraged to express any concerns you
have. We will suggest what the best
approach for your situation.
**Please note that certain medical conditions require the exercise of
caution concerning the advisability of giving or receiving massage. If
you are in any doubt, or if you are under medical supervision, check
with your doctor or other qualified medical practitioner before
embarking on massage therapy. This advice applies particularly in the
case of cardiovascular conditions and heart disease, especially in
cases of thrombosis, phlebitis, and edema. Please
inform me of any medical changes, whether you are sick, become
pregnant, have a fever, etc. as it may affect the advisability of
receiving bodywork.
Draping:
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and
comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered.
Talking:
Some people like to talk and some like to be quiet. Either is perfectly
acceptable. Be sure to give feedback if you are experiencing
discomfort. Feedback about the actual massage is
encouraged. If something feels good, too painful, or you want
additional work done on certain areas please let us know.
Payment:
Payment (check or cash) is due at the time of service unless other
arrangements have been made before your appointment.
Cancellation:
It is courteous to give 24 hour or more notice if you must cancel. You
will be asked to pay in full if you miss your appointment without prior
cancellation. Also note that if you show up late, your
session may be shortened depending upon scheduling.
A typical massage will last one hour. However, on the first visit we
require 90 minutes as we will take a brief medical history and discuss
other assessments.
Frequency
of Sessions:
The time between treatments varies for the individual. For an acute
condition once per week may be appropriate. For health maintenance or
preventative measures, once every two weeks or monthly is usually very
effective. Though treating yourself to a massage every now and then is
a valuable boost to your self-care, you’re likely to see even
more benefits with regular treatment. Try getting massage at
least twice a month for a while to see the power of the cumulative
effect.
**Close your
eyes, breathe deeply, allow your body to become heavy and sink into the
table and ENJOY!
