About
Karen Potter, LMT
I became a massage therapist because I believe in
its wonderful restorative properties for the body. I graduated from the
Central Mass Massage and Therapy School in Spencer, Massachusetts in
April 2005, and I am a current member of the Associated Bodywork and
Massage Professionals Association. Before opening my own
practice, I gained valuable experience working at a therapeutic massage
establishment, as well as at a spa. Also, this past June, I
was a massage therapist for the second place men’s team in
the bike Race Across America. I also have a BA in psychology
from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
As an active athlete, I know very well the rigors and stresses the body
can withstand and the help and relief that massage therapy can
bring. I have worked through my own injuries quickly through
the healing benefits of massage therapy. I find it very
rewarding helping clients ease their pain, combat their stress related
tension and achieve an overall sense of well-being.
I currently compete on the professional level in mountain biking and,
thus, spend much of my “free time” riding my bike
for training, pleasure and as my main stress outlet. I have
been mountain bike racing for the past seven years, and from time to
time compete in triathlons as well. I also have a background
in horseback riding and am currently in training for certification in
equine massage therapy. In addition, I enjoy hiking, playing
basketball and yes, relaxing.
